PNEUMATIC AIR TUBE SYSTEMSWithin a hospital environment, a pneumatic tube system provides a fast, effective and time efficient method of both sending and receiving specimens and medication. However, when contamination of the tube becomes apparent following a spillage, all too often vital people resources are pulled in different directions, in order to maintain an operational service. Adding this down time to additional person costs and the call-out costs for decontamination, means contamination within the tube can be a very costly experience, not least to the patients and the service they receive but also to overstretched medical professionals in the field. In discussion with hospitals and following best practice guidelines, Dyecor have produced an absorbency solution to this problem. The insertion of an absorbent disc inside the carrier itself ensures any spillage is absorbed and contained, therefore enabling the system to continue operating with no loss of function or costly call-out charges. Further, using a disc of material rather than a pad ensures the view within the carrier is not obscured; enabling the receiver to detect any spillage immediately and take appropriate action. |
